Kimberly Casey with Robert Half is seeking an experienced HR Safety Manager to lead health, safety, and compliance efforts for a large non-profit across multiple locations. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can strengthen workplace safety programs, guide operational leaders, and promote consistent regulatory adherence in a complex, multi-site environment. The position combines field presence with strategic oversight, including regular site visits, employee engagement, and continuous improvement of safety practices. Experience supporting industrial or recycling operations, including chemical compliance, will be highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Direct safety and compliance programs across several operating locations, ensuring consistent implementation of standards and procedures.
  • Conduct routine site assessments, inspections, and risk reviews to identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety training sessions and facilitate group discussions that reinforce safe work practices and regulatory awareness.
  • Review, refine, and strengthen existing safety policies to improve effectiveness, accountability, and operational alignment.
  • Partner with operational leadership to address workplace safety issues and build a proactive safety culture across sites.
  • Provide guidance on OSHA-related requirements, documentation, and compliance expectations for day-to-day operations.
  • Support environmental and chemical safety efforts relevant to recycling or industrial activities, helping maintain regulatory readiness.
  • Collaborate with external safety consultants to coordinate additional support and implement recommended improvements.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in safety management, environmental health and safety, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing safety programs for multiple locations or large-scale operational environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, workplace inspections, and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, managing compliance documentation, and evaluating operational risk.
  • Ability to develop and lead effective safety training for employees and site-based teams.
  • Background in improving safety policies, procedures, and prevention programs in active operations settings.
  • Familiarity with environmental safety and chemical compliance requirements; experience in recycling operations is a plus.

Travel required: This position will require significant travel (50%) to multiple locations across Oregon and California.
