Safety Manager Overview
The Safety Manager supports the Safety initiatives for the Lewisburg Corrugating Team at Pratt Industries, a sustainable packaging company committed to growth, community, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years college degree, preferably 4-year degree in Safety/Environmental or related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in safety management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Safety Program Management: Develop, implement, and oversee company-wide safety programs. Lead safety inspections, meetings, and training sessions. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, including valve inspection, sprinkler/fire hydrant system, emergency lighting, fire extinguisher program, AED inspection, eye wash stations, and SDS program.
- Training & Orientation: Conduct safety training for new hires and ensure ongoing training for all employees. Provide training and resources on safety practices, emergency preparedness, and compliance requirements. Lead specialized programs like hearing conservation, Haz-Com, LOTO, Bloodborne Pathogens, forklift safety, safety footwear, and first responder training.
- Incident Management: Report and investigate safety incidents. Develop and manage an incident response plan. Prepare and maintain safety documentation, reports, and records as required by regulatory agencies. Complete first response reporting to Corporate Workers Comp. Assist in filing workers compensation claims, manage light duty program, and provide first aid care when appropriate.
- Facility Management: Oversee fire protection systems, conduct inspections, and provide necessary training. Maintain Pest Control Program records. Serve as the liaison between the site and corporate for policy updates, safety issues, and environmental compliance. Communicate with government agencies as required.
- Additional Duties: Compliance with company policies and procedures. Additional duties as assigned by management.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides and Gmail).
- Working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications, product quality specifications, and quality standards.
