About the Role
The Facility Sr. EHS Leader is responsible for building a site culture with an unconditional stance on safety and environmental compliance while leading a site EHS team. This role manages all aspects of the development, implementation, and evaluation of Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) and critical safety programs, along with other health and environmental processes, to achieve and maintain a zero-injury environment.
As a critical member of the management team, the Sr. EHS Leader provides guidance and coaching in safety and environmental stewardship to all site employees, interfaces across the business to address compliance challenges, and advances innovation in hazard identification. The position acts as the subject matter expert at the assigned facility and is accountable for building capability among the site EHS team and personnel to ensure a sitewide EHS culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the site EHS team to ensure compliance and drive cultural improvements, fostering a safe and healthful work environment while ensuring environmental stewardship.
- Drive enhanced safety processes/systems and a "Safer Together" culture.
- Identify, document, and mitigate potential hazards, including materials exposure, accidents, near-misses, fires, unsafe conditions, environmental spills, and non-compliance. Use appropriate protocols to address issues and notify stakeholders for corrective action, preventive controls, and training.
- Proactively identify hazards in manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials by conducting formal risk assessments. Develop and implement control measures to mitigate risks and maintain compliance with evolving standards.
- Conduct timely and thorough EHS incident investigations, including workers’ compensation matters. Analyze incidents to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and document findings.
- Support facility team members in EHS awareness, emergency training, evacuation planning, emergency response, policy interpretation, safety audits, environmental inspections, and resource location.
- Ensure 100% completion of training plans and certified competence for all employees.
- Develop and update Critical Safety Foundations and SIF Programs, collaborating with site leadership and the Doors Business Unit EHS team.
- Drive sustainability goals through innovative solutions and partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Maintain and retain EHS and safety training documentation.
- Oversee environmental reporting and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Champion the Safety Committee and act as a resource for subcommittees.
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS action plans and programs to ensure high safety and environmental awareness.
- Coach, mentor, and redirect personnel to prioritize and steward EHS goals.
- Reinforce the company’s stance on safety and environmental compliance, recognizing employee contributions.
- Empower employees to prevent or correct unsafe acts or conditions.
- Educate team members on safe operations for new processes or modifications.
- Serve as the initial EHS contact for the Doors Product Stewardship team to review potential environmental, health, and safety impacts.
- Maintain a leadership presence, influencing behaviors and engaging employees in the safety process.
- Participate in Kaizen events, 5S, Lean Daily Management, Waste Elimination, Managing for Daily Improvement, Visual Factory, Six Sigma projects, and similar initiatives.
- Drive and support change management and engagement in EHS-related matters.
- Translate safety and health strategies into results by maintaining and communicating EHS metrics (charts, graphs) and overseeing the site Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system.
- Drive ergonomics initiatives to reduce musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) illnesses/injuries.
- Collaborate on and implement wellness programs to meet site needs.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to EH&S, such as Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or Science (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10+ years of experience leading EHS efforts in an industrial manufacturing setting (floor experience highly desired).
- Minimum 3+ years of experience leading an EHS team.
- CSP certification preferred.
- OSHA 500 series training preferred.
- Experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and/or State regulations.
- Experience implementing, coordinating, and managing OSHA and EPA compliance programs.

Schedule
This is a full-time, onsite position requiring weekday (Monday - Friday) work at an assigned manufacturing location. The role may require up to 10% domestic travel.
