About the Role

Kinkaid Civil Construction (KCC) is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP), family-run heavy civil construction company specializing in underground wet utilities, earthwork, and roadway infrastructure throughout Utah and Arizona. Safety is at the core of everything we do, and we're committed to ensuring every employee returns home safely each day while delivering quality work for our clients. We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and strengthen our safety culture across multiple heavy civil construction projects throughout Utah. This role partners closely with field leadership, project management, and executive leadership to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and continuously improve our safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a company-wide culture of safety and accountability.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and safety observations throughout Utah.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events while identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee training.
  • Maintain safety records, reports, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to proactively identify and mitigate jobsite hazards.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and performance.
  • Track safety metrics and recommend improvements to reduce incidents and improve overall performance.
  • Assist with emergency response planning, accident prevention initiatives, and return-to-work programs.
  • Stay current on changing OSHA regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations.
  • Experience supporting underground utility, earthwork, roadway, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 Certification required.
  • Ability to conduct investigations, safety training, and compliance audits.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic safety reporting systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel to project sites throughout Utah.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHST, CSP, ASP, or other recognized safety certifications.
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience working with DOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects.
  • Experience implementing behavior-based safety programs and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
