Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership and set an example of following all safe work practices and procedures
- Involves in incident and near miss investigations
- Conducts routine jobsite visits and inspections; documents and shares findings as well as lessons learned with the team and management
- Involves in regulatory inspections and investigations; receives and coordinates the regulators' visit
- Maintains workplace safety records including OSHA required documentation, logs, and postings
- Tracks and monitors organizational safety trends and assists with developing and implementing corrective actions
- Creates and reviews safety trainings and materials; coordinates and conducts trainings and toolbox talks across the organization
- Conducts safety orientations for all new hires and others as needed
- Aids the Regional Safety Manager and Corporate Safety Director with interviewing and hiring safety personnel
- Promotes and implements a proactive and positive safety culture
- Participates in safety and industry seminars, networking, and committees
- Provides resources and support to ensure positive safety and health outcomes in line with the Hourigan SHMS.
Qualifications and Experience
- BS in Safety and Health or related degree, and/or equivalent experience
- Experience working on mission critical and data center job sites
- 10 years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety in a Commercial Construction environment is preferred
- OSHA 30, OSHA 510, and OSHA 500 certifications are required
- CSP, CHST, or similar professional certification is preferred
- Knowledgeable of construction safety principles, techniques, and methods
- Strong understanding and knowledge of OSHA and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality laws, regulations, and policies
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and speaking
- Excellent organizational, supervisory, decision making, and problem-solving skills are essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
- Applies a customer-centric mindset to all work efforts
