About the role

Feyen Zylstra (FZ) is seeking a Safety Manager for our Charlotte, NC office. This role is a key member of the Safety Team, collaborating with project team leaders, field leaders, and front-line workers to educate all on FZ’s best-in-class safety culture and standards, ensuring adherence across the organization. The Safety Manager will help build, maintain, and improve safety programs, policies, processes, and practices.

  • A Scorekeeper: You measure progress and results by documenting, tracking data, establishing metrics, and maintaining up-to-date reporting. You communicate pertinent information and hold yourself and others accountable for driving safety culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Construction or Industrial related Safety, including knowledge of and exposure to electrical-related hazards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant degree strongly preferred; Journeyman or Master Electrician licensing a plus.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
  • Safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST) a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), safety software, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to balance safety education and accountability.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support for safety emergencies or incidents after hours or on weekends.
  • Travel required—regularly to regional job sites in a provided company truck and by plane to out-of-state meetings at the Michigan headquarters (overnight stays required).
