Safety Manager

Major duties and responsibilities Enforce, monitor, and document construction safety, environmental safety, and security requirements for the MATOC contractors. Coordinate with WMATA's Department of Safety and Environmental Management (SAFE) as necessary and provide reports to WMATA's safety department as needed. Work closely with WMATA field staff and contractors to ensure understanding of their safety responsibilities, and conduct regular daily safety surveys. Attend project-related meetings, including project meetings in the field or other required locations. Review and comment on project-related submittals, including Job Hazard Analyses, Contractor Safety Manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and Crane Lift Plans. Administer, monitor, and coordinate MATOC construction safety to ensure compliance with the Authority's Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP). Direct implementation, administration, and review of the effectiveness of the industrial, construction, and environmental safety aspects of the PTASP in association with the MATOC Program. Consult with and advise the MATOC Task Manager and the Contractor's Project Manager on developing safety goals and objectives in accordance with the PTASP. Implement and evaluate safety standards and procedures necessary to eliminate, minimize, or control risk involving people-to-equipment interface in a variety of occupational and related areas. Determine the adequacy of maintenance safety practices and procedures and recommend any necessary policy and procedure changes to SAFE. Support SAFE's investigations of MATOC construction accidents and incidents to identify root causes, determine facts, recommend corrective actions, and develop preventive measures.Background and experience required A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction safety or transit safety and working on multiple task orders. Successful completion of the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course.Location: WMATA New Carrollton Headquarters, New Carrollton, MDEstimated work hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–FridaySalary range: $105,000 – $145,000 YR
