About the role

This is a full-time, on-site Safety Manager position based in the Atlanta Metro area, covering both field and office operations. You will help build, run, and check safety programs across water and wastewater projects, conduct site inspections, attend safety meetings, and ensure compliance with company standards and client, federal, and state regulations. You will investigate incidents and near misses, recommend corrective actions, and maintain safety records. Collaborating with project managers, superintendents, and crews, you will foster a strong safety culture. The role reports to the Safety Director and involves working alongside other safety professionals, with frequent travel between active job sites in the area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs for water and wastewater projects
  • Conduct site inspections and attend safety meetings and training sessions
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, recommend corrective actions, and maintain safety records
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and crews to promote a safety culture
  • Perform field audits, hazard assessments, and develop corrective action plans
  • Provide safety training and coaching to diverse crews

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience (required)
  • Strong background in occupational health and industrial safety
  • Experience running EHS programs
  • Skilled in safety training and accident investigation
  • Construction safety experience, ideally in heavy civil, utilities, water, or wastewater work
  • Solid grasp of OSHA rules and other federal, state, and local safety requirements
  • Training or hands-on experience in trenching and excavation safety
  • Training or hands-on experience in confined space entry
  • Working knowledge of crane and rigging safety; NCCCO certification a plus
  • Ability to run field audits, hazard assessments, and develop corrective action plans
  • Strong communication skills to coach and connect with diverse crews
  • Comfortable with basic office software and safety reporting tools
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record
  • Willingness to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • A degree in Occupational Safety is a strong plus and may be weighted above certification requirements

  • OSHA 30 (required)
  • OSHA 510 (required)
  • OSHA 500 (preferred)
  • CHST or CSP (preferred)
  • TCT/TCS and Flagger Instructor (preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor (preferred)
