About the role

McCormick is looking to hire a Safety, Health, & Environment Technician immediately at our Dallas Plant in Irving, TX. This role will provide support facilitating the reduction of occupational risk by the implementation of procedures and engineering processes aligned with the Global McCormick Health & Safety policy. The position reports to the SHE Manager and supports job duties and tasks that cover Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical resource, ensuring safe practices, injury/illness prevention processes, risk management by conducting risk assessments, and job safety analyses on plant equipment
  • Facilitate compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements, application of McCormick Health and Safety policies and procedures, establishment of best practices for the plant/facility
  • Develop and direct the SHE Pillar and Safety Functional Leader program in a manner that ensures Injury/Incident review boards, leading action plans, training, and root cause analysis are conducted appropriately
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards
  • Review and create job aids, one-point lessons and standard operating procedures
  • Conduct relevant training depending on site specific needs

Required qualifications

  • Associate degree in related field (Safety/IH, Environmental, Chemistry or Engineering) OR 5-7 years EHS experience in lieu of degree
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of Safety, Health, and Environment management in manufacturing
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction
  • PAPR/Respirator use required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOP's and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of contractors, staffing agency employees and McCormick employees
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Flexibility in reacting to changes throughout the day; must be able to initiate change and assist others in working through changes
  • Ability to work off-shifts

Certifications

  • Safety Functional Leader (preferred)
