Safety, Health, and Environment Specialist
About the role
AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health, and Environment Specialist to support complex Oil & Gas and Remediation projects. This role plays a critical part in driving proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting project teams through planning, hazard analysis, and execution readiness.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive Health and Safety Plan (HASP) reviews to ensure regulatory compliance and project-specific risk mitigation.
- Provide planning support during project development, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and control selection.
- Lead or support pre-field kickoff meetings, ensuring alignment on safety expectations, procedures, and mitigation strategies.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support incident trend analysis and recommend corrective actions to minimize project risk.
Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience in safety, health, and environment support for Oil & Gas or remediation projects.
- Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of experience supporting Safety, Health, and Environment functions for Oil & Gas and remediation projects. Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHST. Experience leading HASP development and reviews for large or complex projects. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, and industry best practices. Proven ability to support multidisciplinary project teams in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience in safety, health, and environment support for Oil & Gas or remediation projects.
Skills
- Strong technical expertise in health and safety program development, HASP reviews, and stakeholder coordination.
- Proven ability to support multidisciplinary project teams in a fast-paced environment.

- The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $75,000 to $110,000 per year.
