Safety Field Representative

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development of safety plans.
  • Conduct inspections at assigned jobsites, including inspections of work areas and equipment; observe employee work practices and improve safety preparedness.
  • Coordinate field employee substance abuse testing and medical treatment for injury responses using company protocols.
  • Work with project supervision to identify and implement corrective actions to bring job sites into compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Review accident reports and ensure that causes and corrective actions have been addressed.
  • Create root cause maps in response to workplace incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with federal safety regulations.
  • Prepare safety documentation including pre-task planning forms, site-specific safety plans, jobsite safety inspections, and various permits.
  • Support the preparation of safety training and assist with safety training and support for assigned jobsites.
  • Sign up employees for on-line safety classes such as OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 classes, as required.
  • Inspect incident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies.
  • Recommend and follow up to verify the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings at jobsites, including periodic general contractor safety walks.
  • Conduct or assist with appropriate Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Promote near miss reporting throughout all field and office locations.
  • Implement corrective actions and mitigate near misses that require follow-up action.
  • Manage, scan, and archive safety-related documentation.
  • Compile field safety audits completed in iAuditor, Procore or Vector.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Safety Director.

Requirements

  • Experience in safety in the construction, facilities, and/or industrial services industry is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 preferred, willingness to obtain OSHA 501 certification.
  • Basic understanding of construction industry standards.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.
  • Insight to gather and make sense of information, including the ability to identify relationships between unrelated data and combine information to form rules or conclusions.
  • Intuition and foresight to identify when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong (not necessarily solving the problem, but able to recognize a problem exists or could exist) and work with others to find the solution.
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to provide safety solutions.
  • Client management skills; able to manage customer relationships, perceptions, and expectations.
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
