Safety Environmental Engineer

Essential Job Functions

• Affirms general safety policies and measures for Corporate and plant personnel.
• Inspects plant facilities to identify accidents, health hazards, and environmental issues, recommending corrective or preventive actions.
• Collaborates with all plants on equipment usage, shop floor hazards, fire prevention, and safety programs.
• Investigates accidents and injuries, cooperating in the preparation of materials and evidence for Corporate in case of hearings or lawsuits.
• Manages safety and ergonomic issues to reduce worker’s compensation and insurance costs.
• Compiles and submits required OSHA accident reports as needed.
• Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Advises plant management on the organization's environmental and safety objectives.
• Affords assistance to plants and other MPG facilities with environmental compliance and customer requirements related to EMS (compliance obligations).
• Supports regulatory research and permitting, and maintains current information on regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of safety management experience, preferably with automotive/stamping supplier.
