About the role
Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Engineer I & II to join our Energy Storage group, responsible for implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training
- Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
- Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis
- Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings
- Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
- Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Qualifications
- Safety Engineer I: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred OR High school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience
- Safety Engineer II: One year of related experience
