About the role

Conduct multiple, medium-to-large, critical projects and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and health statutes and regulations. Recognize, monitor, and make recommendations to ensure workplace safety hazards are corrected through audits, ergonomic assessments, and interventions, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies' rules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical safety consulting services to internal customers, including hazard identification, accident investigation, audits, ergonomic assessments, and review of accident history to minimize employee injuries/illnesses.
  • Conduct focused work site and crew observations to identify safety excellence and hazards.
  • Perform annual safety audits and focused self-assessments to measure and evaluate hazard controls and programs, delivering feedback to business unit management on regulatory compliance.
  • Function as a consultant to local safety committees, employees, and management, assisting in program development and auditing results.
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local safety and health rules, recommending compliance options aligned with safety policies and programs.
  • Develop training lesson plans and provide regulatory compliance training for new hire orientations and annual OSHA-required training.
  • Maintain professional expertise by attending conferences/seminars, keeping certifications current, and participating in task force committees for regulatory compliance or safety improvements.
  • Serve as a resource for management and employees on safety regulations and compliance.
  • Engage and influence management to develop their responsibility and leadership in safety at their locations.
  • Assist site management with contractor safety questions and compliance paperwork, ensuring alignment and consistency in safe work expectations during projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Recognized safety certification required; Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) designation preferred.
  • Three years of work experience within the safety field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in Electrical Utilities.

Pay

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $73,700.00 to $104,633.00 per year.
