Safety Claims Specialist

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with operations teams to develop and maintain site-specific safety plans for projects.
  • Track safety-related corrective actions and follow up with responsible parties to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims from initial reporting through resolution, including communication with employees, supervisors, medical providers, and other partners as appropriate.
  • Coordinate return-to-work efforts and help facilitate appropriate transitional or modified-duty opportunities.
  • Schedule accident investigations and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation are completed.
  • Schedule, assign, and monitor required safety training through HCSS Safety.
  • Lead the annual review and update of the company’s Health and Safety Plan (HASP).
  • Review, update, and maintain Toolbox Talks to ensure content remains relevant, accurate, and useful to field teams.
  • Maintain organized and accurate safety and claims records.
  • Assist with tracking safety trends, training completion, and other safety metrics.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and operations teams regarding safety processes, training requirements, and workers’ compensation procedures.
  • Support additional Safety Department initiatives and continuous improvement efforts as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in safety, workers’ compensation, claims administration, construction, HR, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow-up items.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with both field and office employees.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating across multiple departments and locations.
  • Experience with HCSS Safety or similar safety management software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, workers’ compensation, or construction safety practices is a plus.
