Safety and Security Representative - Boulder Store

Overview

The Job in a Nutshell: The Safety and Security Representative supports Natural Grocers’ mission to minimize risk and maximize safety in stores. This in-store position supports store Crews by identifying and addressing safety issues, de-escalating confrontations, promoting customer service, assisting in asset protection, and providing a security presence.

Responsibilities

• Understands and maintains strict compliance with laws and NGVC policies concerning safety, security, and loss prevention.
• Supports store Crews by providing a security presence, conducting patrols, and accompanying staff as needed.
• De-escalates incidents, assists with de-escalation, and addresses individuals presenting undesirable behaviors, creating business disruptions, or causing safety concerns.
• Addresses environmental safety issues, including illicit substance or bodily fluid cleanup.
• Documents theft occurrences, escalated incidents, and safety concerns.
• Trains staff on safety, security, and loss prevention practices.
• Conducts store walks and audits to review safety, security, and loss prevention practices.
• Aids in assessing and proposing environmental barriers to mitigate loitering, shoplifting, and solicitation.
• Maintains strong working relationships with other departments and external entities.
• Reviews and requests camera footage as needed for assigned sites.
• Communicates with discretion and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2 years previous security, retail, or loss prevention experience preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain a license as a Security Guard in the City of Denver, Colorado.
• Internal theft case resolution experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of safety, security, and loss prevention.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and public interaction.
• Detail-oriented and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to understand and communicate company policies to other Crew.
• Intermediate skill with standard PCs and business software.
• Open availability including days, evenings, weekends, and occasional night shifts.
• Must pass a background check.
