About the role

The Safety and Environmental Engineer position at Klein Tools works closely with Corporate Loss Prevention and manufacturing facility staff to ensure corporate goals are met, government standards are complied with, risks are controlled and costs are contained.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Safety and Environmental Audits
  • Performs Ergonomic Assessments
  • Performs Industrial Hygiene Monitoring
  • Conducts Accident/Incident Investigations
  • Develops and Administers Safety and Health Training Programs
  • Submits Recommendations to Management to Correct Deficiencies, Eliminate Hazards and Improve Overall Programs and Processes
  • Coordinates Interaction with Local, State and Federal Regulatory Agencies Regarding Employee Health and Safety and Environmental Issues
  • Maintains Databases for Chemical Safety Data Sheets and Responds to Requests for Information About Substances Used in the Workplace
  • Performs Air Quality Testing, Noise Monitoring and Miscellaneous Sample Collection and Testing Activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, environmental safety, or related discipline from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience
  • Preferred: ASP/CSP Certification
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, federal, and state regulatory compliance requirements
  • Willingness to become a certified First Responder and respond to emergencies (including after hours)
  • Willingness to travel at least one (1) week per month
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
