About the role
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a SAFE Senior Business Analyst to join their State office. This is a full-time, merit position with benefits, and may be eligible for a hybrid schedule combining in-office and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Meet with administration, frontline staff, and partnering agencies to discuss business functions and processes.
- Make decisions and solve problems using logic to align new SAFE features with agency mission and goals.
- Gather, interpret, and analyze data.
- Effectively negotiate conflicting needs and interests between parties.
- Provide high-quality independent analysis, conclusions, and recommendations using business analysis tools and methods.
- Transfer scope of work, feature descriptions, validations, and other business rules to programmers and users before development.
- Track and monitor projects from start to finish to ensure timely completion.
- Use a variety of testing methods to ensure system functionality of the SAFE system before features are released to production.
- Communicate and resolve issues with users and programmers.
- Deliver presentations, training, or instruction to staff and management.
- Determine software requirements for the SAFE system and translate business needs to programmers.
- Take initiative to understand SAFE architecture and engage in professional development.

- Strong understanding of Utah’s Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (SAFE).
- Experience with basic programming and relational databases like SQL, JavaScript, and Amazon Quicksight.
- Keen attention to detail, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile project management cycles.
- Ability to adapt to different skill levels and personalities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Knowledge of Utah’s Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (SAFE).
- Basic programming and relational database skills.
- Experience in child welfare and SAFE.

Pay
