Safe Environment Administrative Assistant
Part-time, 20 hours per week. On-site at the Pastoral Center, parishes, and schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. Some evening and weekend hours required monthly.
About the role
The Safe Environment Administrative Assistant reports to the Director of Pastoral Support and Child Protection. This role involves data entry, tracking, and training preparation, as well as assisting parishes with compliance related to child protection expectations and conducting Protecting God's Children (PGC) trainings.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a staff member of the Office of Pastoral Support and Child Protection, gaining a working knowledge of all sections and helping educate parishes, schools, and the community on Child Protection protocols within the Archdiocese of Boston.
- Enter attendance at trainings into the VIRTUS database.
- Assist with tracking compliance for child protection trainings for adults and youth in RCAB parishes and affiliated Catholic schools.
- Provide assistance to parishes and schools to help them understand and comply with all rules related to Child Protection.
- Learn to facilitate PGC trainings and assist with ongoing communication with all PGC Facilitators.
- Provide PGC training as needed, at least once per month.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a working knowledge of Massachusetts Child Protection protocols and procedures, including mandated reporter law, and communicate these to clergy, employees, and volunteers.
- Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Youth and Young People and teach others about it.
- Ability to obtain a working knowledge of RCAB Policy for the Protection of Youth and teach others about the policy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Self-directed with the ability to identify needs and meet them.
- High School Diploma required.
- Multilingual and multicultural candidates preferred.
- Must drive and have access to a vehicle for on-site parish and school meetings.
Pay
$24.00 to $26.00 hourly.
