SA Paving Laborer

About the role

An integral part of the paving crew, the Common Laborer works with the entire team, foreman, and superintendent to ensure paving jobs are completed to high standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with physical labor and is able to perform tasks related to asphalt work in numerous settings and environments.

Responsibilities

• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
• Shovel, rake, and handle other small tools.
• Clean equipment as needed.
• Run small power tools when required.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1 year (or under) of experience.
• Organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
• Positive, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
• Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety policy, encouraging all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
• Work in a safe, responsible manner to avoid intentionally or unintentionally injuring oneself or endangering the wellbeing of others.
• Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
• Collaborate with project teams on special initiatives as required.

Skills

• Entry-level position; working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations is a plus.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

• Available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
• Some travel may be required as operations span throughout Texas.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
