S&L Materials Senior Project Manager

About the Role

S&L Materials is seeking a Senior Project Manager to take charge of multiple roadway projects. The ideal candidate will oversee the planning and implementation of entire projects, including budgeting, hiring team members, sourcing suppliers, and planning project releases. This role requires proficiency in coordinating field staff, job costing, purchasing, CPM scheduling, and negotiating with owners.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for safety, quality, and budget for projects of varying sizes.
• Direct reports include Project Engineer, Office Manager, QC, and Safety personnel.
• Prepare project status reports and ensure work adheres to contract specifications.
• Communicate district and corporate information to the project team while keeping Operations Manager/General Manager updated.
• Direct and supervise project administration, superintendents, and engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain relationships.
• Establish, define, and promote values, expectations, and performance standards aligned with company mission and vision.
• Create and execute project work plans, identifying resource and budgetary needs.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as needed.
• Assist the Operations Manager with project needs, including cost management and program documentation.
• Oversee subcontract management effectively.
• Coach and develop staff, providing feedback, advice, project updates, and encouragement.
• Host weekly project meetings with team members and managers.
• Implement and monitor Safety and Hazard communication programs.
• Monitor Quality Control in collaboration with the Site Superintendent.
• Carry out job duties while maintaining company values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5-8 years of project experience in heavy/highway construction.
• Must have Heavy/Highway project management experience.
• Familiarity with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and other highway construction scopes.
• Strong team-building skills and a creative, innovative approach.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Strong prioritization, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.

Preference for candidates with 5+ years of experience working for a Highway Contractor in Central Florida and knowledge of local construction practices.
