About the role

Inspection of manufactured products and raw materials to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Examines factory orders and blueprints.
  • Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications.
  • Stamps approval or rejection marks and reports rejections.
  • Verifies layouts, materials, weld quality, paint quality, dimensions, appearance, identification markings, and records defects/rejections.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference, volume and apply basic algebra.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Attendance is an essential job requirement: regular, consistent, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance, including working overtime before and after shifts and on weekends as required by union contract.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Occasional travel requested (less than 10%).
  • Ability to relocate to Parsons, KS 67357 before starting work (preferred).
  • Night shift availability (required).
  • Quality Control Inspection experience: 1 year preferred.

Physical demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
