About the role
Inspection of manufactured products and raw materials to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Examines factory orders and blueprints.
- Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications.
- Stamps approval or rejection marks and reports rejections.
- Verifies layouts, materials, weld quality, paint quality, dimensions, appearance, identification markings, and records defects/rejections.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
- Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference, volume and apply basic algebra.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Attendance is an essential job requirement: regular, consistent, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance, including working overtime before and after shifts and on weekends as required by union contract.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Occasional travel requested (less than 10%).
- Ability to relocate to Parsons, KS 67357 before starting work (preferred).
- Night shift availability (required).
- Quality Control Inspection experience: 1 year preferred.
Physical demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
