RSO II / QHSE - Denver, CO
About the role
Acuren is seeking an experienced Radiation Safety Officer/QHSE to support our operations in Denver, CO. This position works with all levels of the organization to ensure the delivery of world-class quality services to regional clients. The RSO II/QHSE independently administers radiation safety activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations, oversees radiation monitoring programs, evaluates exposure data, investigates incidents, and recommends corrective actions. The role maintains licensing documentation, coordinates training programs, and provides technical guidance to staff handling radioactive materials.
This intermediate position requires a strong understanding of radiation physics, safety standards, and regulatory reporting, with the ability to work with limited supervision and assist in program development and audits. The ideal candidate will be multi-certified in MT, PT, UT, and RT, with additional experience in CR, DR, and PAUT considered a plus.
Local candidates based in Denver, Commerce City, Colorado, or the surrounding area are preferred. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Administer radiation safety activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
- Oversee radiation monitoring programs and evaluate exposure data.
- Investigate radiation-related incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain licensing documentation and coordinate training programs.
- Provide technical guidance to staff handling radioactive materials.
- Work with Division Managers and Operations Managers to meet corporate goals and objectives for radiation programs.
- Assist in program development and audits with limited supervision.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of full-time Radiography experience.
- Must meet the qualifications of RSO, including experience in source retrieval and equipment maintenance.
- Four (4) years of full-time Radiographer experience.
- Training in source retrieval and equipment maintenance.
- Training on establishing and maintaining a Radiation Protection Program.
- Familiarity with applicable License(s), the Operating and Emergency Manual (ROEM), NRC and applicable State Regulations, and appropriate sections of 49 CFR Transportation.
Skills
- Multi-certified in MT, PT, UT, and RT.
- Additional experience with CR, DR, and PAUT is a plus.
- Familiarity with NAS-410, ISO-17025, and ISO-9001 standards.
- Demonstrated experience as a leader.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
