RSD Body Fab - Fabricator (MIG)

About the role

As a Body Fabricator at Rosenbauer, you will be responsible for the metal fabrication of multiple components of fire apparatus bodies. Using state-of-the-art technology and precision craftsmanship, you will read and follow blueprints and specifications to weld, sand, cut, and bolt materials, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality for emergency response vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate the metal body on the fire apparatus.
• Read and follow blueprints and specifications to complete objectives.
• Weld, sand, cut, and bolt materials to build the body of the fire apparatus.
• Mount body and pump house onto the subframe of the fire apparatus.
• Mount support for equipment to be installed as needed.
• Check work against blueprints and specifications to ensure a workable product.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months’ experience using MIG and TIG welding equipment is required; welding diploma or certificate is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Math ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Knowledge of basic inspection tools and machining skills or related fields.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and tape measure.
• Must recognize the importance of and adhere to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints and specification books.
• Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally as needed to support department needs.

Physical Demands

• Frequently lift and move objects weighing 11–20 pounds; occasionally lift and move objects weighing 21–35 pounds.
• Continuous use of color vision, close vision, and peripheral vision; frequent long-distance vision.
• Continuous standing and walking; frequent talking or hearing and feeling; occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching upward or outward.
• Frequent bending of the neck side-to-side or front-to-back; frequent grasping and turning of the wrist; occasional pinching and finger manipulation.

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to extreme heat (weather-related, especially during summer months).
• Continuous use of personal protective equipment, including safety boots, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, and face shield; occasional use of respirator.
• Work environment with moderate to loud noise levels (e.g., metal manufacturing, construction sites).
