Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program with Associates Degree
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC
  • Current Florida RT or TT license
  • CRT is accepted, but must become a Registered Respiratory Therapist within 36 months from initial hire date
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification
  • NRP Certified within 90 days from initial hire date

About the Role

The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner will perform all respiratory care techniques in both critical and non-critical care areas. They will assist and advise staff Certified Respiratory Practitioners.

Responsibilities

  • Aerosol therapy
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
  • Incentive spirometry
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Arterial blood gases
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Pulse oximetry
  • Assist with fiberoptic bronchoscopy
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time
  • Frequently assisting with lifting patients and heavy equipment
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment, work independently, make sound decisions, and remain detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs, carry and lift up to 50 lbs

Threshold Requirements

  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service, and health requirements, including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s)
