About the role
This position involves conducting pre-inspections to determine required service levels for highway structures, coordinating and conducting pre and post inspections of Adopt-A-Highway sites, providing written reports, digital photos, and recommendations to the Director. Additionally, this role includes reviewing field inspections, assisting with permit coordination, managing supplies, processing applications, coordinating highway site inspections, creating written summaries, and maintaining vehicles.Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-inspections to determine required service levels for highway structures.
- Cook up and conduct pre and post inspections of Adopt-A-Highway sites, providing written reports, digital photos, and recommendations to the Director as needed.
- Review and provide recommendations for the adoption of highway criteria.
- Assist with permit coordination based on logistical data observed in the field.
- Assist with the coordination of supplies and storage, including the delivery of supplies to volunteer groups, creating receipts, and tracking inventory.
- Review and process Adopt-A-Highway applications/contracts.
- Cook up and conduct highway site inspections, determining if required service levels are adequate, and/or completed as scheduled.
- Create weekly written summary reports of inspections and notify the Director for review.
- Assist with the maintenance of the unit’s vehicles such as scheduling and delivering vehicles for preventative maintenance appointments, repairs, and car washes.
Requirements
- License Requirement: Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York.
Qualifications
- New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
- The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour.
Schedule
- The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
