About the role

The Royalty Analyst supports Hachette Book Group's Finance team by reviewing and inputting royalty and contractual information into the system, managing contractual obligations, and responding to inquiries from various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain royalty and contractual information in the royalty system
  • Track and pay contractual obligations to authors
  • Review tax documents for appropriate tax withholding for foreign payees
  • Investigate contractual discrepancies
  • Validate monthly financial data for month-end general ledger reporting
  • Aid in the monthly financial close process
  • Respond to authors and agents concerning advance and royalty queries
  • Monthly review of active ISBNs for new products to be entered into the royalty system
  • Monthly review of scanned documents for contractual changes and payee/address updates
  • Review and process cycle royalties to ensure accuracy and timely payment
  • Assist the subrights accountant as needed
  • Research and analyze data as needed

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience in an accounting/financial position
  • College degree preferred
  • Ability to analyze and interpret contracts
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Quickly grasps new systems and procedures
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Effective problem-solving and research skills
  • Results-driven with the ability to take ownership of situations
  • Excellent organizational skills

Pay

$55,500 for the New York Office and $51,100 for the Boston Office. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location.

Schedule

This role is based in our New York office or Boston, MA office. Employees are expected to work on-site three days per week in accordance with our hybrid work model. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the office.
