Route Driver

Job Summary

The Route Driver is responsible for representing the company while making deliveries and picking up freight.

Hours and Wages

- Monday- Friday, 7:30AM- completion of route - 10-15 hours of overtime may be expected each week - Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed) - Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week - Starting wage: $20.00- $24.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

- Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers - Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle - Load the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages - Collect payments for certain packages delivered - Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers - Notify management of any problems or discrepancies - Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle - Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

- Ability to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learn - Possess good customer service and can work independently

Education and Experience

- At least 21 years of age - High school diploma or equivalent preferred - Hold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standards

Physical Requirements

- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam - Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicle - Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds - Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
