Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is standard, next-day ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility are located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company-wide and have expanded throughout the Midwest.

About the role

The Route Driver is responsible for representing the company while making deliveries and picking up freight.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Load the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages
• Collect payments for certain packages delivered
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Hold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standards
• Ability to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learn
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicle
• Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
• Ability to work with all types of freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

Skills

• Possess good customer service and can work independently

Pay

Starting wage: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience. Paid overtime at time and a half after 40 hours per week.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - completion of route
• 10-15 hours of overtime may be expected each week
• Voluntary overtime on weekends (as needed)
