Overview
As a Route Assistant, you will gain industry knowledge with our drivers delivering beer. This position provides training to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL-A), setting you on a path to a rewarding career.Position Summary
Assist the driver in delivering package and draft products to accounts on assigned routes and schedules.Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Count inventory on the truck and at delivery locations
- Help with product deliveries by reviewing pick sheets, pulling products, loading dolly, and wheeling them into accounts
- Avoid out-of-stock issues, make legal space adjustments, build displays, install, place, and price products according to retailer guidelines
- Maintain good customer service by ensuring backrooms and shelves are orderly, deliveries are on time, and interactions are respectful
- Fulfill Driver responsibilities during route runs, including checking in and out, handling damaged or missing products, and performing pre/post-trip inspections
- Adhere to safety protocols, company policies, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of general work experience preferred
- Prior grocery store/consumer products experience a strong plus
- Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements
- Daily, in-person travel within service territories of Silver Eagle required
- Excellent communication, organizational, and assertiveness skills
- Able to lift 25-40 lbs frequently and 161 lbs occasionally
- Able to obtain and maintain Class A-CDL and medical card
- Able to handle alcohol and work within T.A.B.C. Guidelines
- Smartphone with camera and data capability
- Valid Texas Driver's License and driving record compliant with MVR policy guidelines
Physical Requirements
- Continuous standing and walking for up to 8 hours
- Continuous lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 20-161 lbs
- Ability to operate a two or four-wheel dolly
- Must be able to push 300 lbs dolly load and move 161 lb kegs
- Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack
- Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll-up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shift
- Must pass DOT Physical and Drug Screen
- Must be able to shift a manual transmission vehicle
