Route and Trip Bus Driver

Full-time position available immediately. Bargaining unit: Pine Island Education Support Professionals - Local 8153.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and relevant certifications and training
• CDL license and experience preferred; training available if needed
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and work with children
• Up-to-date on DOT and State rules and regulations
• Hold CDL with air brakes and proper school bus endorsements

Responsibilities

• Prioritize the physical safety and well-being of all passengers during loading, unloading, and transit
• Adhere strictly to established time schedules and assigned routes
• Obey all traffic laws, school district policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
• Provide safe transportation for all passengers
• Deliver outstanding customer service as a representative of the transportation department
• Ensure the highest level of student safety through transportation training, maintenance, and procedures
• Perform daily vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance
• Maintain accurate mileage records
• Ensure and maintain orderly behavior of passengers on the bus
• Follow all traffic laws and regulations
• Other duties as assigned
• Evening or weekend hours may be required on an irregular basis

Pay

• Hourly rate: $19.31 - $25.00
• Route pay: $131.31 per day (both AM and PM routes must be driven to receive full day pay)

Schedule

• Monday through Friday per school calendar
• Activity Bus may run on any day
