About the role

The Rotor Shop Machinist contributes directly to operational excellence by performing precision machining, inspections, and repairs that ensure reliability, safety, and quality for customer equipment. This role involves hands-on work in a rotor and machine shop environment, supporting high-quality repairs and customer commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
  • Unstacking and stacking compressor rotors.
  • Blading and tip grinding compressor wheels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with rotor manual machining, especially with gas turbine rotor machine.
  • Demonstrate intermediate skill level (Aligning, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding on at least two of three machines: Manual Lathe, and VTLs).
  • Support Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs. Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs.
  • Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus.

Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (Overtime and weekend work available)
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM (Overtime and weekend work available)
