Rotational Molding Machine Operator - 1st Shift (Horicon)

Reporting to the Production Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator produces rotational molded parts in accordance with process parameters, changes out molds, and maintains acceptable levels of scrap and productivity.

Schedule

1st Shift: 6am – 2pm, Monday – Friday

Responsibilities

• Operate rotational molding machine to meet or exceed plant metrics related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale/Inventory.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
• Transfer plastic resin into ovens for heating and into molds for forming.
• Work as a team to assemble and dismantle molds.
• Remove molded parts from the molds and monitor part temperature.
• Conduct mold changes using overhead cranes and rigging.
• Use feedback from Trimmers inspecting product to drive process improvements to reduce scrap and improve productivity.
• Maintain safe and clean operations by adhering to safety procedures and company 6S requirements.
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to complete dimensional measuring and quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools.
• Ability to perform simple math and measurements.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders.
• Frequent use of hands and wrists on both large and small items (e.g., screws, bolts, and nuts to service the molds).
• Ability to understand/apply knowledge of “G” and “M” codes and have applicable computer skills.
• Ability to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods of time.
• Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
• Aptitude to take orders and execute them efficiently.
• Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills, and ability to multi-task.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.
