About the role
This opportunity is suited to a technically strong professional with expertise in rotating equipment repair, inspection and quality oversight. The role focuses on providing technical assurance and guidance across shop machining and repair activities, supporting safe, high-quality and cost-effective repair outcomes. This position offers the chance to play a key part in troubleshooting, repair planning, quality control and root cause analysis within a maintenance and repair environment. The Rotating Equipment Inspector role is ideal for candidates who can combine engineering judgement with hands-on repair oversight and clear technical communication.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assurance and guidance for rotating equipment repairs and shop machining activities as a Rotating Equipment Inspector.
- Review and clarify field troubleshooting results, including system and equipment analysis and technical specifications.
- Develop quality scopes of work for equipment serviced in the shop and manage repair deviations where required.
- Build specification sheets and job plans for rotating equipment repairs, including support on more complex repair scopes.
- Audit maintenance processes to ensure quality control standards are followed and work with maintenance teams to address improvement opportunities.
- Update equipment files, including engineering documentation, shop inspection records and bills of materials.
- Perform root cause analysis on failed components and document and communicate re-work findings using causal investigation techniques.
- Develop risk-based repair solutions that consider safety, quality, productivity, life cycle cost and schedule.
- Provide technical support to maintenance planning for parts procurement related to rotating equipment repairs.
- Act as a technical focal point for repairs carried out in external repair shops.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of technical experience in rotating equipment repair, inspection and shop machining activities
- Ability to review troubleshooting results and interpret system, equipment and technical specification information
- Experience developing scopes of work, specification sheets and job plans for rotating equipment repairs
- Knowledge of quality control within maintenance and repair environments
- Experience updating engineering and inspection documentation, including equipment files and bills of materials
- Capability to carry out root cause analysis and communicate technical findings clearly
- Ability to assess repair solutions with consideration for safety, quality, productivity, cost and schedule
- Experience supporting repair planning and parts procurement for rotating equipment
