About the role
As a Ropeway Project Engineer II, you will support the civil/structural/ropeway project engineering team by developing concrete foundation drawings, structural steel component designs, and ropeway profiles to support the completion of various types of aerial ropeway projects.
Responsibilities
- Design concrete foundations to support terminal and tower structural steel, generator pads, operator house footings, underground vaults, and related infrastructure.
- Design structural steel components, including tower tubes, crossarms, walkways, and other ropeway-related structures.
- Apply lift profile design principles and practices using specialized rope line calculation software.
- Determine project design loads in accordance with ASCE-7 and Doppelmayr standards.
- Design structural steel elements in accordance with AISC standards and structural concrete elements in accordance with ACI-318 standards.
- Design ropeway components in compliance with ANSI B77.1 and Doppelmayr standards.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings to support permitting, procurement, manufacturing, and construction activities.
- Develop testing procedures and documentation to ensure installations meet project specifications and safety requirements.
- Utilize engineering and design software such as Siemens NX (or equivalent 3D CAD software), EliteCAD (or equivalent 2D CAD software), AutoCAD Civil 3D, MathCAD, and IFS (or similar ERP systems).
- Apply company policies, procedures, and engineering standards to resolve routine and non-routine technical issues.
- Troubleshoot engineering challenges of moderate complexity, analyze data, and develop practical solutions.
- Independently complete routine assignments while contributing to team and organizational objectives.
- Exercise sound judgment within established procedures and engineering practices.
- Collaborate with domestic and international colleagues, field teams, and customers to support successful project execution.
- Participate in site visits and field work as needed, with up to 10% domestic travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (FE exam passed) with substantial experience working under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, structural design practices, and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of:
- ASCE-7 design load determination
- AISC structural steel design
- ACI-318 structural concrete design
- ANSI B77.1 and ropeway design standards
- Engineering calculations, specifications, and construction documentation
- Testing procedures and quality documentation
- Experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with 2D CAD software such as EliteCAD.
- Experience using MathCAD for engineering calculations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as IFS or equivalent platforms.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Ability to work independently on routine assignments while seeking guidance on complex or non-routine challenges.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in both office and field environments.
