Ropes Course Guide

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead guests on guided Canopy Course Adventures
• Maintain trails and grounds accompanying the Canopy Course
• Perform required inspections of all equipment as scheduled
• Perform required inspections of course components as scheduled
• Teach our guests about the plant and wildlife of the Mountain
• Teach our guests how to operate all equipment involved in the Canopy Adventure
• Transport guests to desired locations when necessary
• Complete necessary training for ACCT Level 1 high ropes certification
• Display proficiency in rescue procedures

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Past experience operating a ropes course is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with ropes, carabiners, harnesses and other climbing gear
• Must be certified in First Aid and Wilderness First Aid

REASONING ABILITY

• Must be able to resolve any issues regarding guests in relation to the program
• Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on safety, job knowledge and awareness of company goals
• Able to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency rescue scenario

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Comfortable working at height in the trees
• Wearing a harness for several hours at a time during their shift
• Using various power tools including but not limited to chainsaws, drills, etc.
• Excellent physical dexterity and fine motor skills to operate all gear in a variety of weather conditions
• Reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing including occasional spotting
• Climbing steep terrain and unmarked trails
• Carrying heavy loads
• Safely operating a company vehicle or golf cart

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• 5,200 acres of Blackberry Mountain, including steep terrain and unmarked trails
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions

Pay

Pay Range: $16.00–$20.00 per hour. Starting compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
