About the Role

The Rooms Inspector assists in monitoring the cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas as well as ensuring guest satisfaction with the friendliness and service of the Housekeeping staff. This role ensures guest rooms and public areas are clean and operating correctly while adhering to labor and budgetary guidelines.

Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential, and potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating the activities of the Housekeeping Team, including break assignments, room checks, and ensuring associates adhere to break and clock-in/out times.
  • Maintain safety and security through key control for guests and associates, ensuring keys are accounted for and secured.
  • Assist with monthly inventories, proper ordering, receiving, and maintenance of supplies.
  • Clean vacant dirty rooms to guest-ready status and return occupied dirty rooms to clean status within specified time and accuracy constraints per brand standards.
  • Follow all cleaning procedures outlined in housekeeping training for every assignment.
  • Report discrepancies to the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness in other hotel areas, such as associate breakrooms, restrooms, public areas, stairwells, and back-of-house areas.
  • Respond to guest requests and inquiries immediately.
  • Understand and follow emergency procedures and safety/security needs for guests and associates.
  • Maintain a crisp, clean, and professional appearance daily, adhering to grooming and uniform standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, provided the associate is capable.

Requirements

  • Prior housekeeping experience in lodging, housing, hotels, hospitals, or care facilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with associates and guests.

Skills

  • Knowledge of proper procedures for handling linens, terry, and other supplies.
  • Understanding of sanitation for supplies, guestrooms, and public areas.
  • Familiarity with guestroom cleaning procedures and safety/security measures.
  • Ability to follow and manage company procedures and policies.
  • Organizational skills to maintain logs, checklists, and inventories.
  • Ability to maintain designated minutes per room and guest privacy.
  • Professionalism and hospitality in addressing guest issues.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team, multitask, and remain service-centric.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems such as Quore and Hotel Effectiveness.
  • Discretion to maintain guest privacy.

Working Conditions

  • Physical presence at the hotel is required; remote work is not an option.
  • Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a professional image.
  • May be required to work any day or shift, including weekends.
