About the Role
The Rooms Inspector assists in monitoring the cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas as well as satisfying guests in terms of the friendliness and service of the Housekeeping staff. Ensures guest rooms and public areas of the hotel are clean and operating correctly while working within the labor and budgetary guidelines set forth by LBA.
Company associates have access to guestrooms and property. As such, character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential to this position and must be displayed at all times. Per company policy, potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.
Requirements
- Prior housekeeping experience in lodging, housing, hotels, hospitals, or care facilities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted
- Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel
- Must be able to see and hear
- Must be able to communicate with other associates and/or guests
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating the activities of the Housekeeping Team, including break-out boards, assigning times, checking rooms, and entering data into systems
- Ensure associates take breaks and clock in/out on time
- Maintain key control for guests and associates, securing keys at all times
- Assist with monthly inventories, proper ordering, receiving, and maintenance of supplies
- Clean vacant dirty rooms to guest-ready status and return occupied dirty rooms to clean status within specified timeframes and brand standards
- Follow all cleaning procedures outlined in housekeeping training
- Report any discrepancies to the Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager
- Maintain cleanliness in associate breakrooms, restrooms, public areas, stairwells, and back-of-house areas
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries immediately
- Understand and follow emergency procedures and safety/security needs for guests and associates
- Maintain a crisp, clean, and professional appearance daily, adhering to grooming and uniform standards
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on capability
Skills
- Knowledge of proper procedures for handling linens, terry, and other supplies
- Understanding of sanitation for supplies, guestrooms, and public areas
- Familiarity with guestroom cleaning procedures and safety/security measures
- Ability to report or correct hazardous conditions immediately
- Assistance in supervising and managing staff techniques
- Thorough knowledge of materials, supplies, and equipment used in housekeeping
- Follow and manage company procedures and policies
- Organized to maintain logs, checklists, and inventories as scheduled
- Maintain designated minutes per room
- Uphold guest privacy
- Follow cleaning procedures systematically
- Professional and hospitable attitude when assisting guests
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Multi-task while remaining service-centric
- Effectively communicate with guests and co-workers via messages and log books
- Learn and use computer systems (e.g., Quore, Hotel Effectiveness) for daily tasks
- Exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy
Working Conditions
- Physical presence at the hotel is required; remote work is not an option
- Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a professional image
- May be required to work any day/shift, including weekends
