About the role

Self-Inspecting Room Attendants clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel’s established standards of cleanliness. The role involves reporting maintenance deficiencies, handling guest requests or complaints, and maintaining the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms.

Salary: $18.50/hr

Responsibilities

  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Clean assigned guest rooms by priority.
  • Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities, and linens to assigned guest rooms and position securely.
  • Maintain carts, caddies, and hallways clean at all times.
  • Empty trash containers and recycling bins.
  • Remove all dirty terry and replace with clean par.
  • Remove soil linens from bed, sofa, rollaway, and clean soap build-up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain, and floor.
  • Clean bathrooms, make beds to standards, perform high dusting, clean refrigerators, and vacuum outside rooms.
  • Clean closets and door tracks on check-out rooms, removing dust and debris.
  • Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers and other amenities.
  • Dust and polish all furniture, pictures, frames, mirrors, light bulbs, switches, coffee makers, TVs, remotes, and cable boxes.
  • Realign furniture to floor plan.
  • Clean patios, balconies, and patio furniture.
  • Open all drawers/doors in check-out rooms and remove items left by guests; dust inside drawers.
  • Check under beds, chairs, and sofas for debris and remove dirty sheets from sofa beds if present.
  • Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips, or stains; report damages to maintenance through Alice.
  • Remove dust, spots, and smears from all doors, drapes, windows, ledges, frames, baseboards, AC units, corners, and telephones.
  • Inspect condition of amenities on desk, drawers, and guest service directory; replace designated amounts at proper locations in the room.
  • Ensure presence of fire safety items, rate cards, and DND signs; inspect and replace as needed.
  • Update status of rooms in Alice, phone, or assignment sheet.
  • Return and restock cart at the end of the shift.
  • Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Report any damages or maintenance problems through Alice.
  • Knowledgeable of hotel fire and emergency procedures.
  • Adhere to Lost and Found policy, including key control.
  • Complete the training process successfully.
  • Perform other essential room cleaning duties as operations change in the future.

Requirements

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, co-workers, and management.
  • Ability to be a self-inspector.
  • Ability to use systems and equipment provided by the resort, including Alice, radios, and other communication devices.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exert physical effort consistent with cleaning an industry-standard number of rooms per shift (approximately 14 check-outs and 30 light-service rooms).
  • Punctuality and regular, reliable attendance.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and guests.
  • Ensure security of any assigned keys and provided equipment.
  • Sign in and out of all devices.
  • Report and log all maintenance issues in Alice.
  • Turn over any lost and found items to housekeeping.

Desired Qualifications

  • One to two years of prior experience in cleaning hotel guest rooms.
  • Prior guest relations training.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.

Physical Requirements

  • Endure various physical movements throughout work areas, such as reaching, extending arms overhead, bending, and stooping.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push, or pull heavy loads.
  • Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull vacuums and wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
