About the Role
The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms to provide a comfortable experience for guests. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in public areas, answering guest inquiries, delivering items to guest rooms, restocking, and assisting with special cleaning projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide a pleasant room experience to guests by ensuring all guest room areas meet hotel standards (e.g., inspecting furnishings, light fixtures, and room equipment for cleanliness and good repair).
- Perform cleaning duties, including replacing/changing bed linen, pillows, towels, bath care products, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning high-touch areas.
- Complete daily room assignments and assist with reports, maintenance requests, logbooks, and lost-and-found procedures as needed.
- Regularly assist with deep cleaning projects and other duties.
- Maintain confidentiality of hotel-sensitive information, such as guest profiles and credit card details.
- Demonstrate brand standards, behaviors, and mandates while following all safety guidelines to ensure the safety of associates and guests.
- Adhere to all guidelines, policies, and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook (e.g., punctuality, professional demeanor, lost-and-found protocols).
- Engage with guests and associates professionally, fostering trust and loyalty through conversations, follow-ups, and issue resolution.
- Assist with training or providing guidance to new associates when requested.
- Maintain constant communication with all hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Follow the posted schedule to help reduce overtime and missed meal hours.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Understand hotel functions and guest profiles.
- Knowledge of the local area, including restaurants, landmarks, shopping centers, and attractions.
- Basic reading, writing, and numerical skills to relay notes or comments (in any language).
Skills
- Basic housekeeping communication skills (verbal and written in English).
- Interpersonal skills, such as listening, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain focus, and work under pressure.
- Professionalism in resolving conflicts to ensure guest and associate satisfaction.
Abilities
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with associates and guests to build trust and loyalty.
- Ability to maintain consistent positive energy, self-motivation, and passion for hospitality.
- Ability to keep hotel-sensitive information confidential (e.g., guest profiles, credit card details).
- Ability to learn new software and computer systems.
- Ability to adapt to various situations, handle pressure, and remain composed.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing/walking for 8+ hours.
- Ability to walk around the hotel, navigate stairs, stoop, kneel, lift a minimum of 50 lbs., push, and pull approximately 200 lbs.
- Ability to wear housekeeping personal protective equipment (e.g., goggles, gowns, gloves) during specific tasks or shifts.
Business Attire
All associates must follow the hotel’s dress and grooming standards, including wearing a full, neat, clean, and wrinkle-free uniform at all times, practicing good personal hygiene, and adhering to grooming guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual or multilingual.
- Prior cleaning or janitorial experience.
- Prior hotel experience.
- Emotional intelligence training.
Working Environment
The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Associates must be aware that shifts may change based on business needs. The work environment includes:
- Public business atmosphere with varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
- Housekeeping laundry office, which may be hot, damp, loud, and filled with equipment and chemicals.
- Potential local travel for hotel events, meetings, or trainings.
