Room Attendant

About the Role

Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, the Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of guest room hallways, rooms, balconies, and porches to the property standards.

Responsibilities

• Picks up extra cleaning and guest room supplies in the Housekeeping Department.
• Cleans assigned quota of rooms daily according to standards while maintaining a clean and neat area.
• Restocks and replaces items in rooms and bathrooms for guest use that have run out of stock or need replacement.
• Reports all maintenance problems to Supervisor/Engineering.
• Ensures service area is well stocked with necessary products and cleaned at all times; stocks area for the next day.
• Vacuums bathrooms, bedrooms, floors, corridors, stairs, and lifts to remove all debris; checks the vacuum cleaner daily and changes the bag if necessary.
• Offers assistance to guests in a courteous manner.
• Reports and delivers lost and found items to the Housekeeping Office.
• Provides intuitive service to guests during stayovers to anticipate needs.
• May perform regular deep cleaning of all areas of the hotel as instructed.
• Solves problems relating to guests with strong customer service skills.
• Works in a team setting, providing support to co-workers whenever called upon to offer assistance.
• Delivers items to guest rooms and closets as needed.

• Establishes cross-departmental channels of communication among teammates that are consistent and complete.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of room cleaning.
• Some experience with the ABCs of housekeeping and room cleaning is beneficial but not required.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Variable availability.

• Daily communication with guests, supervisors, housemen, laundry, and front desk staff.
• Occasional participation in one-on-one coaching sessions.

Physical Demands

• Frequently: Standing, walking, bending over, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying 11 to 25 lbs.
• Occasionally: Sitting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, lifting/carrying 26 to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, eye/hand coordination, near and far vision, color recognition, and hearing.
• Significant portions (more than 80%) of daily assignments involve standing, bending, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, and application of manual skills requiring motor coordination.

Work Environment

• Indoor and outdoor settings with overhead lighting.
• May work in all areas of the property, both inside and outside, possibly in inclement weather.
• Exposure to excessive heat/cold, humidity/dampness, noise/vibrations, chemicals/detergents/cleaners, fumes/smoke/gas, and uneven surfaces.
• May operate motorized equipment or vehicles and work around machinery/motorized equipment.
• Continuous use of a computer and keyboard is not required.
