About the role

Ascent Hospitality seeks a dedicated and accomplished individual to join their team as a Room Attendant. This position involves cleaning guest rooms and assisting with the cleanliness of guest floors, hallways, and public areas. Additional duties may be assigned as needed within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens.
  • Cleans multiple rooms daily including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, polishing furniture and fixtures.
  • Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies.
  • Cleans corridors and stairways.
  • Sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Dusts furniture, washes walls, woodwork, and windows, and polishes door panels and sills.
  • Empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs.
  • Scrubbed bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls, and bathroom fan.
  • Completes a quality check on the television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors.
  • Removes any items left behind from room and takes to Lost and Found following proper hotel procedure.
  • Reports any maintenance-related problems to the maintenance department through the proper communication channels.
  • Assumes responsibility for careful use of supplies and equipment issued for carrying out job responsibilities.
  • Wears proper uniform at all times.
  • Obtains a score of 90% or higher on room inspections.
  • Gives a pleasant greeting and acknowledges each guest.
  • Displays thorough knowledge of all in-house products and local area information to assist customers when needed.
  • Displays proper organizational skills when stocking carts and timely completion of cart stocking after completing rooms.
  • Keeps the commercial area clean and neat.
  • Timely (within 10 minutes) response to customer needs for housekeeping supplies.
  • Uses guest names at all times upon entering an occupied room.
  • Maintains supply room in a clean, neat, and organized state.
  • Displays a team attitude and assists co-workers when the need arises.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to work as a part of a team.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective use of close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts.
  • Professional and energetic demeanor.
  • High school education or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Four to six months of housekeeping experience or training preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

  • Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, talking, hearing, and operating in mentally and physically stressful situations.
