About the Role
Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to join our team as a Room Attendant. The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning guest rooms and assisting with the cleanliness of guest floor hallways, maintaining cleanliness of public areas and restrooms in the hotel by performing the duties outlined below. Other duties may be assigned as needed within the department.
Responsibilities
- Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens.
- Cleans multiple rooms daily, including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, polishing furniture and fixtures.
- Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies.
- Cleans corridors and stairways.
- Sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dusts furniture.
- Washes walls and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets and cleans ashtrays.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs.
- Scrubs bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls, and bathroom fan.
- Completes a quality check on the television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors.
- Removes any items left behind from rooms and takes them to Lost and Found following proper hotel procedure.
- Reports any maintenance-related problems to the maintenance department through the proper communication channels.
- Assumes responsibility for the careful use of supplies and equipment issued for carrying out job responsibilities.
- Wears proper uniform at all times.
- Obtains a score of 90% or higher on room inspections.
- Acknowledges and greets each guest pleasantly.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all in-house products and local area information to assist customers when needed.
- Displays proper organizational skills when stocking cart and timeliness of cart stocking after completing rooms.
- Shows team effort in keeping the commercial area clean and neat.
- Responds to customer needs for housekeeping supplies within 10 minutes.
- Uses guest names at all times upon entering an occupied room.
- Checks all vacant rooms daily to ensure the status is correct.
- Maintains supply room in a clean, neat, and organized state.
- Displays a team attitude and assists co-workers when needed.
Requirements
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak basic English and communicate with team members and guests.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to comply in standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to work flexible shifts.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Professional and energetic demeanor.
- High school education or equivalent is preferred.
- Four to six months of housekeeping experience or training preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of effectively using close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- Able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
