About the role
As a CDL B Commercial Roll Off Truck Driver, you will safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks to pick up waste or recyclable material from residential, industrial, and commercial customers. You will transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, often making multiple trips per shift. The position may require lifting up to 50 pounds, maneuvering up to 100 pounds, and frequently mounting and dismounting the truck.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks to collect and transport waste or recyclable materials.
- Transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, completing one or more trips per shift.
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with IWS safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
- Navigate congested communities and confined or tight areas, including highly skilled backing maneuvers.
- Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
- Adhere to DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
- Read and understand maps, converse with the public, and complete reports and records legibly.
- Meet physical and safety requirements, including lifting and maneuvering heavy materials.
- Work required hours as allowed under DOT regulations, which may include weekends, nights, or holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement.
- 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 7 years.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and a strong safety record.
- Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English to converse with the public, understand traffic signals, and complete reports.
- Ability to read and understand maps.
- Meet physical and safety requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering up to 100 pounds.
- Willingness to work required hours, including occasional weekends, nights, or holidays.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
- Occasional Saturday hours, particularly after major holidays.
Pay
$26.23 per hour.
