SA Recycling has multiple openings for experienced Class A or B drivers. Local routes; home each night.
About the role
Safely deliver and pick up roll-off containers from company and supplier locations. May also operate other trucks depending on business needs and licensing.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of all tractor-trailers and straight trucks in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Pick up material from supplier locations and deliver to SA and customer locations as directed by dispatch.
- Secure all cargo for transport using chains, straps, binders, and/or tarps.
- Communicate any safety or equipment issues with management.
- Operate effectively and safely on all staging areas, parking surfaces, and roads.
- Perform pre/post-trip inspections as required and maintain all required logs of driving hours and vehicle service and repair status.
- Use personal protective equipment as required by SA Recycling, its customers, and the type of material being transported.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent work experience.
- Valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license with roll-off experience.
- Ability to operate an 18-speed manual transmission.
- Minimum 21 years old.
- Must pass a DOT physical and meet all qualifications of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
- Registered in Clearinghouse as required by FMCSR.
- No more than 2 moving violations within the past 2 years.
- Three or more years of roll-off experience preferred but not required.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
Physical requirements
- Work environment: Scrap metal recycling and shredder yard.
- Equipment & tools: Trucks up to 18-wheeler, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, box containers, mechanics tools.
- Physical demand level: Light to moderate; steady when machine is rocking in all directions, climbing fixed ladders.
- Sensory demands: Hearing, vision, touch, smell, and taste.
- Hand movements: Repetitive motions, gripping.
