Responsibilities
- Service customer accounts dispatched throughout the day.
- Collect and haul waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant as directed by dispatch.
- Remove and replace roll-off containers and compactors for customers.
- Complete work assignments safely and efficiently to avoid damage and accidents.
- Operate vehicle in compliance with safety rules, OSHA, DOT requirements, and local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR.
- Report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.
- Notify Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions.
- Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
- Maintain and update driver log sheets throughout the day.
- Communicate professionally with customers.
- Keep commercial vehicle clean and free of trash/debris.
- Follow route assignments as directed and complete end of day documentation and check out process.
- Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Requirements
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- At least 18 years old.
- A valid Class B CDL.
- A valid DOT medical card or obtain one before hire.
- No DUI’s or OVI’s within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
- Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Physical Demands / Environmental Factors
- Sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Use physical ability to enter/climb and leave truck cab frequently.
- Manual dexterity required to operate controls on truck.
- Regularly requires sitting.
- Frequent walking and standing up to 8 hours per day.
- Requires pushing and pulling up to 110 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
