Roll Mechanic
About the role
Join our workshop in Aiken, SC as a Roll Maintenance Mechanical Assembler. You will be responsible for the assembly and disassembly of gearboxes, installing, aligning, adjusting, and fitting subassemblies, as well as setting up and operating boring bar, drill press, milling, and honing machines. Experience working with large, heavy manufacturing equipment and the ability to run overhead cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently is required. This is a 2nd shift position.
The ability to apply inspection techniques (e.g., formalized inspection standards, inspection instructions, best practices) and use inspection tools efficiently is essential. You will ensure a quality product is provided consistently while striving for improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble gearboxes
- Install, align, adjust, and fit subassemblies
- Set up and operate boring bar, drill press, milling, and honing machines
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently
- Apply inspection techniques and use inspection tools
- Ensure consistent quality and continuous improvement
Requirements
- High school education with previous manufacturing experience; ideally 3–5 years
- Knowledge of papermaking machinery is a plus but not required
- High level of initiative and personal motivation
- Willingness to work with and train others
