Rod/Instrument Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist Party Chief as directed to conduct boundary, topography, ALTA, right‑of‑way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
• Perform a variety of routine tasks to become familiar with equipment, terminology, and operating procedures.
• Cut brush and hammer iron and wood stakes.
• Abide by safety requirements.
• Perform routine work that does not require previous experience.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Rod Technician – Entry level, high school diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years old, and a desire to work outdoors.
• Instrument Technician – High school diploma, 1 + year of land‑survey field experience.
• Physically capable of cutting brush and hammering iron and wood stakes; able to lift 50 lb.
• Follow safety requirements and be knowledgeable of traffic control and safety procedures for surveying and construction operations.
• Familiar with proper care, cleaning, and use of surveying tools and electronic equipment, including tribrachs and tripods.
• No prior experience required for entry‑level positions.
• Ability to work outdoors 8–10 hours per day, walk up to 2 miles.
