Robotics Systems Engineer I, Tech Deployment
About the role
Join Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) Technology Deployment team within Amazon Robotics (AR) organization to deploy industrial robotics across North America's fulfillment network. In RDPI, we have the unique role and privilege of deploying leading edge industrial robotics and customer fulfillment technologies across the North America Stores operations. We raise the bar on the speed, quality and cost of deploying industrial technologies at scale across North America, functioning as the field team who plan, execute and launch the technologies that our internal design and product strategy partners in RDPI develop.
Responsibilities
- Support and guide installation of robotics, packaging and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers
- Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely
- Manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers
- Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams
- Travel to project sites and collaborate both virtually and in person to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status
- Manage day to day project scheduling and budget management
- Work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space
- Generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around work-scopes
- Lead teams of other engineers on projects
- Travel to both live warehouses and new construction sites, the scopes may vary significantly in length and include heavy travel
- Travel to project sites across North America, upwards of 75% or more
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience in managing and troubleshooting network and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
- Experience in retail, warehouse, or manufacturing is preferred
- Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL and VBA skills
- 1+ year’s experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical)

- Strong technical skills for deploying robotic equipment, including mechanical and electrical systems, network configurations, and software coordination

Pay
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

This is a travel-based role and you will be expected to travel to meet the requirements of your projects across North America, upwards of 75% or more.
