Responsibilities
- Device Assembly & System Testing
- Perform system-level diagnostics and functional testing on devices during intake and before shipment.
- Run test plans to verify sensors, motors, connectivity, power systems, and firmware status.
- Debugging & Troubleshooting
- Capture logs, reproduce issues, and identify whether problems originate in hardware, firmware, or configuration.
- Work with engineers to triage electro-mechanical or system integration issues.
- Manage firmware and software updates, calibration, and configuration tasks.
- Maintain test scripts and help designing scripts necessary for hardware verification and troubleshooting
- Lab & Workflow Management
- Maintain parts inventory and lab so components, tools, and equipment are findable and adequately stocked.
- Build and support test rigs for durability, performance, and user-simulation testing.
- Ensure devices are repaired, calibrated, and ready for pilot walks, demos, and engineering use.
- Documentation & QA Process
- Own the system of record for the Glidance device fleet: device tracking, version information, and known issues.
- Record test results, diagnostic findings, and repair notes with high accuracy.
- Contribute to test procedures, build checklists, and continuous improvement of QA processes.
- Help develop standard operating procedures for intake/outtake testing and device readiness.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience working in a robotics, hardware, or R&D lab environment.
- Skilled with hand tools, soldering, wiring, and basic mechanical assembly.
- Experience reading schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with software tools for flashing firmware, running scripts, collecting logs, or using command-line utilities.
- Experience designing Linux shell scripts and coding in Python.
- Basic understanding of firmware development for STM32 MCUs.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail in testing and documentation.
- Collaborative, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
